Low Carbon High Growth Eco Cities - Chongqing & Hong Kong

Chongqing March 22 & 23 Sustainable Cities event including a gala dinner, meetings, discussions and a conference featuring Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment. Seminar chaired by Alan Kell, UK -China Eco Cities and Green Building Group. Organised in conjunction with the British Consulate, British Chamber of Commerce & COFTEC in Chongqing and Asia House. Chongqing is uniquely placed to host this international conference which brings together high level speakers and international delegates to discuss the role of government, private business and civil society in delivering truly sustainable cities and stimulating commercial enterprise. Chongqing is the fastest growing urban centre in the world, it is the key city in China for sustainable development and for delivering the policies and projects which will create a balanced rural and urban society. The UK has recognised the challenges and opportunities that are associated with the rapid economic growth which Chongqing has experienced over the past ten years and have signed many joint co-operation agreements, in particular the Sustainable Cities Agreement with Chongqing which is in line with Party Secretary Bo Xilai’s “Five Chongqing” initiative.

Midday to 14.00. Welcome by Andrew Seaton; HM Consul-General, seminar chaired by Ben Pape, UK -China Eco Cities and Green Building Group. Organised in conjunction with the British Consulate in Hong Kong, the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC) and Asia House. This is an additional event based on the themes and topics discussed in Chongqing, adapted for a Hong Kong audience.
How to get there: Cathay Pacific offer a direct service to Chongqing. The suggested itinerary is to depart London on Sunday March 20th arriving into Chongqing on Monday 21st, depart evening of 23rd to Hong Kong, attend the BritCham breakfast featuring Lord Green on March 24, the BritCham / KPMG dinner evening of 24th, Low Carbon High Growth Eco Cities on March 25th and the Cathay Pacific / Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens, one of the world's greatest business networking events, March 26 & 27.
